So, Mothers Day is coming up this Sunday, May 12th, and I was trying to think of something my mom would really love. Last year I went to visit her I surprised her a vase of beautiful flowers from her local florist, and of course a hand-made card. This year I decided I would record something for her, since she has always been my biggest fan.
For this year, mom, I recorded the two songs (that are coincidentally in the same key), that we used to sing together on long car trips.

So, because I never stop making noise, my husband suggested that it might be entertaining to put up a little page on my website that is dedicated to the little hums and 'deedles' that I already make on a daily basis. So, hopefully you'll all find that amusing! ;-)

In a Flash - This song was the first and only song I wrote addressed to myself after a bad breakup. I had no idea I was writing it to myself, though, and was really shocked when a friend of mine pointed it out to me. It became incredibly obvious to me after that and would like to thank myself for being so thoughtful to include me in there. ;-)

Before Alicia's glorious adventure to music college, she wrote this piece to warn potential boys that she was still pretty hung up on a guy back home... but then college came and a slew of intelligent men presented themselves and well, this song fell onto the back shelf. However, it is still one of Alicia's personal favorites in her collection.

In order to see what kinds of music would come out based on viewing a picture, I have asked my friends, fans and family to provide a picture for me via facebook and write whatever comes to mind. The point of this composition exercise is to write short melodies that come solely from visual stimulation. I don't spend time contemplating anything, I just write whatever comes to me. Some may end up really cool, and some might suck out loud. That's the fun of writing!

August 31st, 2012 - Once in a Blue Moon
I am working on a new schedule for myself so that I can have more regular updates here. I kicked it all off by writing another Instrumental Originals song today called Pros & Cons, using Finale 2010. I also added a couple of old songs I wrote, using Finale as well, to help fill that page up with some more of my instrumental ideas. I like the cheesy, retro video-gamey sound, personally... hope you enjoy!
TOMU (Try To Mess Up) was the first song I ever wrote using Finale. I was just becoming familiar with the program in 2003 when I started college. I was literally just throwing notes on the page for the first few seconds of the song. I ended up loving it so much that I kept going with it, not editing any of the clashing cluster chords I initially threw together. A fun fact about TOMU: I didn't know how to read music when I wrote it! I followed my ears!
+ Untitled Jig is a silly piano/percussion song I wrote shortly after TOMU, in 2003. It originally had bagpipes playing instead of piano, but unfortunately with how many times I've owned computers whose hard drive crashed... I lost the original.
I also replaced the recording of Carrot Theme with the original. I had made an updated version from Finale 2003 to Finale 2010 and I didn't like it as much. I prefer the sounds I wrote it with originally!

August 15th, 2012 - Cha-cha-cha-changes!
Slowly but surely making some adjustments to the site. It was time for some changes to be made as well as some additions to the content.
I have added 2 new clips of professional voice acting gigs I have done recently. I will have more to add as they are completed - but the two can be found in Voice Samples.
I am also looking to have a jam session soon with a great pianist who can play circles around me - therefore we can do more complicated songs! Hooray! Stay tuned.

August 2nd, 2012 - New Beginnings
Alright, time for another update on what I've been up to.
- I am still going forward with the voice acting training and gaining some experience along the way. I will be posting the couple of voice acting gigs I have done so far to my Voice Samples page hopefully by the end of today. So far, it is very enjoyable and I hope to be able to do more of this kind of work.
- I am having a fantastic time teaching voice lessons from my home studio. It is such an honor to work with such wonderful kids, and hope to continue to gain more students in the future. If you are interested in knowing more about voice lessons with me, please visit my Students page.
- As seen in the picture to the left, I am serious about my piggy making! I had initially come up with the first legit Mario Piggy, and sold one on Etsy a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I spent many hours creating my first Link Piggy (from the Zelda games), as per my husband's request. I am proud of the way these have come out and excited to keep creating art, since it has always been a great hobby of time.
- The new musical has been born. We have a title, characters and a storyline. We hope to keep it short and sweet - something we can possibly enter into next year's Fringe Festival. More news on that to come as it occurs!
- I have a really cool idea for a mash-up song and am still attempting to get a good recording of it. I wasn't pleased with the takes I did Monday evening, so I will work up my voice and jam on that song some more so that I am confident with it and have figured out what I want it to sound like before I attempt to record it again.
July 26th, 2012 - Thank You, Thank You!
A BIG thank you to all who were able to make it out to see the Wizard of Oz. It was such a fun experience and I am very grateful to have made new connections and new friends come out of being a part of it.

- Voice Acting. I am currently in training to better my craft and get my demo together by the end of summer so that I may attempt to get some voice over work.
- Private Voice Lessons. I now offer voice lessons to a select number of students. For more information email me.
- Piggy Obsession. This is so NOT related to music at all, but I have always loved arts and crafts. Recently I decided to offer up my hobby on Etsy to see if there was any interest - I even sold my very first piggy bank this week!
- Some friends and I are going to start a YouTube Series. We begin filming next week, so stay tuned for that update!
- A small group of my friends and I are also going to begin brainstorming for a new musical. I have had a stellar idea for a new show and want this one to be a collaborative effort instead of me writing all of it, as I did with Tower! Stay tuned for those updates as well.

Well, people are going to hear rumors eventually and I might as well break the news here, too.
I am no longer a part of one of my teaching jobs. I can honestly say I will miss my students like crazy. My termination was given with very little explanation other than a misunderstanding, and I was not given the chance to resolve the matter.
Because of this, I was not able to prep my students for my abrupt goodbye. I was not able to tell them how much I loved being able to share music with them, or how proud I was of their accomplishments. Some of them had just started and I could feel the bonds being created. Others kept coming back to take more lessons each season because we were making really great things happen with their vocal development.
I can honestly say that I did EVERYTHING in my power to give my students a wonderful experience and a positive environment to learn in. I will miss them SO much... it is really REALLY painful to think about. They are the #1 thing I will miss.
If some of you see this message, just know that you're amazing and I hope you never stop singing.

April 21st, 2012 - Follow the Yellow Brick Road!
So, funny story. I was feeling like I needed to get into some kind of theatrical show because I've been away from it for what feels like FOREVER. So, I looked on MNPlaylist and saw that the Woodbury Community Center is doing a production of the Wizard of Oz. I really like this show a lot, so I thought, what the hell, I'll go for it.
The audition was fun and the callbacks were against some really talented ladies. I got a call this morning, though, telling me they were offering me the role of the Wicked Witch of the West! Saaa-weeet!

December 21st, 2011 - Baby Steps to the Guitar!
I made a pact that I would start learning the guitar during my Holiday break, and that I have! I picked up my guitar that has been sitting lonely in the closet of my studio for years and figured out how to play Edelweiss. I hope that by this time next year I will be able to play many songs and have calluses like a champion!

November 1st, 2011 - Updates
Hope everyone had an AWESOME Halloween!
I have spent some time today recording my various voices to create a new page on my website that is dedicated to just that - my voices! Hooray! I posted a bunch under the tab 'Voice Samples". More coming soon!
Also, I am having an absolute blast with my students. I am happy to now be in the double digits of private lessons, and am always looking for more folks who would like to develop their instrument and make some great music together! :-)
Stay tuned! In the meantime, enjoy my ridiculous nerdy schoolgirl costume!

May 2011 - Festival of Nations
Thanks to all who were able to attend this year's Festival of Nations! It was an AWESOME year and we had a lot of fun!

May 2011 - Home Studio Update
I am pleased to announce my home studio is up and running!
Admittedly, I am not incredibly experienced with recording devises, but I am doing my best and they sound WORLDS better than my previous methods (recording with an iPod, or a handheld recording device). My recorder is awesome and I look forward to sharing some jam sessions with friends, as well as some originals that have not had much exposure to the public!
I will keep you posted on the details and where I will be hosting them. Facebook has some issues with sharing non-original materials, and YouTube is making my life more difficult than it really needs to be!
At any rate - I have blankets on the walls, two microphones and headphones and I'm ready to play!

Well, sorry to report, I did very little this month as far as music is concerned! It can be noted, however, that I did get married in late March (2011) so that took up some of my time! :-)
I am still going full speed ahead on Festa Italiana Minnesota - which is going awesome. I love my committee as well as the whole gang involved in making this a truly special event.
The MN ESL, Bilingual & Education Conference 2011 went very well! Special thanks to Joan Wink who asked me to come sing during her lecture. It was an honor to be a part of her demonstrations! <3

March 2011 - Home Studio Project
Hi All!
Just a quick update to let you all know that a home studio set up is in the works. I am planning and saving up so that I have all of the necessary equipment to record in the comforts of my home. This way I will be able to upload high quality recordings of my music to share with you on a regular basis!

This event is for teachers of ESL, EL, Bilingual individuals, and Migrants who wish to learn new methods of teaching in this
amazing two-day long conference at Saint Paul's RiverCentre.
* Festival of Nations - Runs May 5th - 8th, 2011 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. More Info
The Festival of Nations is a staple in many Minnesotan's youth. Experience cultures from around the world with live
performers, an extensive bazaar, demonstrations, language lessons and fine cuisines!
* Twin Cities Jazz Festival - Runs June 23rd - 25th, 2011 at Mears Park in Saint Paul, MN. More Info
Join us in Mears Park for the 12th year of the Twin Cities Jazz Fest this year as we hear top quality performers from
all over the nation in this intimate and beautiful urban setting.
